- A high-pressure pump used in hydraulic, oil, and fuel systems. The fluid is pressurized when it passes between the teeth of a gear and radiused case of the pump. It is a constant displacement-type pump whose output is varied by spilling the pump output fluid back into the pump inlet.Gear pump.
